ASHTON KEYNES YOUTH FOOTBALL CLUB
WELFARE
Most children and young people have a fantastic experience

through football – but sadly, some don’t. This might be
down to over-competitive parents and coaches shouting
from the sidelines. This kind of behaviour is one
which AKYFC’s Code of Conduct is designed to address.

CLUB WELFARE OFFICERS

(CWO)

Jon’s role is to ensure the Club Committee, officials and all volunteers are clear about the

clubs responsibilities when running activities for children and young people. This involves:

• Ensuring these responsibilities are well understood by others;
• Working with the County FA Welfare Officer;
• Promoting The FA’s RESPECT Programme and helping to develop best practice processes.
• To help club personnel understand what their duty of care towards children and young people actually means and entails on a day-to-day basis.

No concern or worry is too small and Jon is happy to chat or
answer questions at any time.

The CWO works directly with the County FA Welfare Officers to promote and oversee best practice in Safeguarding Children.

The CWO is your first point of contact for any concerns relating to children or vulnerable adults.

If you have any concerns about a child or young persons welfare report it to the CWO or The Wiltshire Football Association Designated Officer. Furthermore, you can contact the safeguarding organisations listed on this page.

Please remember that if a child or young person is in immediate danger, ALWAYS call 999.

CLUB VOLUNTEER OFFICIALS

COMMITTEE

All leagues and clubs require volunteers to undertake chairperson, secretary and treasurer roles to implement their constitution. Additional volunteers fulfil vital roles such as welfare officer, and development officer to assist the club to operate effectively. Then there are the frontline voluntary roles performing coaching and first aid.

Volunteers are essential in keeping the game running.
